While the Bible has a lot to say about forgiveness, it doesn’t directly deal with the question of forgiving oneself. Usually, we talk about “forgiving ourselves” when we struggle with unresolved guilt from a past sin or regret over negative consequences caused by an earlier decision. But isn’t it possible that when we refuse to forgive ourselves, we are actually insinuating that our standards are somehow higher than God’s? I mean, if we have confessed our sins to God, and He is faithful and just to forgive us of those sins (see 1 John 1:9), then who are we to not forgive ourselves? In the end, all that really matters is that we have been forgiven by our Heavenly Father, because His grace is sufficient for you, and His power is perfected in weakness (see 2 Corinthians 12:9). So, lets’ stop carrying all those rocks around in our rucksacks! Blessings!
